Be Fit Over Forty - Use the Top 10 Tips to Trick Yourself Into Weight Loss

By Allison Holt

To be Fit Over 40 you need to be able to stay focused and on track to succeed. That is why motivation and staying on your diet and weight loss plan can sometimes be a challenging mind game.
Over the years of trying this diet and that diet I am sure you have found that there are times when it is hard to stay on track then other times when things just seem to go fine. It is during the hard times that we need the motivation and the strength to stay on track.
Sometimes it takes everything you have to do this. There seems to be countless hours that seem to drag on when you are hungry and can only think about food. Well there is help in staying on track and fit over forty. I have found that you can trick your mind and body into losing weight. You can actually make yourself feel full and get rid of those cravings. You can forget abut food and get back to the other things that need your attention.
I want to share these with you so and have came up with the following list to help everyone stay Fit Over 40. Here they are:
The Top 10 List Of All Time Weight Loss Mind Tricks:
1. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of cold water per day. You hear this often and for good reason. Most people don't do it. They think they are drinking that much but aren't. So, count out your glasses for a few days and get used to how much water it actually is. Ensure that you drink one glass of water prior to each meal to help fill you up. Also, if it is cold that is even better, as your body will need to burn a few extra calories to heat you back up.
2. Eat something for breakfast and make sure it includes a small portion of protein. Rev up your engine for maximum metabolism burn. This kick start to the day will keep your metabolism high through-out the day. Again it is something you hear all of the time because people ignore it. And just so you know, 2 cups of coffee does not count as breakfast!
3. Carry a bag of carrots or your favorite vegetable with you all of the time to use for emergency snacks when you get hungry. Carrots are my favorite because they are crunchy, they are sweet, they are good for you and you can't really eat too many. Do I need to say anymore?
4. Do not eat after 8 pm at night. Your body's natural metabolism slows done during the late night period. Try to let it do that by not eating.
5. Do not consume useless extra calories from your beverages. Switch to diet soda, drink black coffee, limit your alcohol intake. Another thing that can get people are fruit juices. Limit them to 1or 2 servings per day at the most. Yes, they are good for you and have a lot of vitamins, but they also have a high amount of natural sugar. So, enjoy them, but don't over do it.
6. Switch some of your food to lower fat or fat free options. For example , switch your milk from 2% to skim milk. Buy light or fat free foods where ever you can. It all counts and can add up quickly. Just think if you switched to the light versions of margarine, sour cream, mayonnaise, ice cream, cheese and milk. That is a lot less fat. But don't stop there, anytime you see something you regularly buy become available in a lower fat version go for it.
7. Use spices instead of dressings that have a lot of fat. Learn new ways to cook and to use spices to take your meals from diet boring to low calorie exciting. A simple and easy way to reduce fat while cooking and flavoring things up!
8. Keep a food journal. It doesn't have to be fancy or formal. By keeping track of all your food intake and by doing it honestly you will stay on track. It is easy to forget something during our busy day, so doing this lets us know how many calories we are really consuming in a day. You might be surprised.
9. Finish all meals with a piece of sugar-less gum. This will help you from over indulging after your meal is over. Many times after we eat we feel a craving for something sweet and end up ordering a dessert we do not need. Do you know why we get this craving? Because we have conditioned ourselves over time to expect sweetness after a meal. Chewing a piece of sugar-less gum will combat thins and save you calories.
10. Switch your normal dishware for smaller plates and bowls. This will naturally help you from not stocking your plate high with extra calories. It has been proven that if you have a bigger plate or bowl that you will take more food. Trick your mind into eating less and still feeling full.
So now that you have seen the tips, try to use a few of them at a time over the next few weeks until you are using them all. You will see a difference in the amount of calories and fat you are consuming. Especially if you keep the journal and can go back and compare notes.
Being Fit At Forty can be done and you can do it. Do as much as you can, but realize that we all have good days and bad days. We make mistakes every day in every part of our lives. You will make mistakes on your journey, I know I have. I also know that is how we improve. Forgive the mistake but do not forget it and most importantly, forgive yourself. Learn from it and move on. Tomorrow is your next chance to improve your health and fitness but why wait, start today. Successful dieting and weight loss is a life choice. You will have bumps along the way.

Over 40 Fitness Program Checklist
By Derek Penycate

So you want to start doing some fitness exercises to help you stay healthy and stay fit over 40? Congratulations! You're taking the first step toward fulfilling your goal for fitness over 40. Below I have compiled a list you can use as a guideline to check your fitness program. It is important to start out on the right course to increase the chance of your fitness routine goals being reached.

Here is the checklist:

I decided on the level of I wanted to achieve before deciding which fitness program suited me the best
I decided which days I would perform my fitness routine while allowing myself the occasional day or days off
I would try to make my exercise routines a lifetime habit, rather than just a when 'I feel in the mood' habit
I would do my exercise routines as intensely as possible
I would monitor my fitness workout intensity by how laboured my breathing was, if I struggled to hold a conversation then I was working out at the right intensity for me
I would do my exercise routines in the shortest time I comfortably could
I was not going spend hours and hours mindlessly performing the same exercises over and over again
I would create a fitness programme that would keep my muscles well toned, because that would help me maintain a stable bodyweight 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Every fitness routine would benefit from following the guidelines outlined above. I'm not saying you can't achieve your fitness goals goals if you don't use or follow the guidelines on the list, but it will be easier if you did. Here are some secondary pointers that you should consider as well:

The better toned your muscles are the more energy or calories you will burn, even while investing, because muscle is an active tissue which uses energy just maintenance
This will help to prevent or reduce the chances of you getting 'middle age spread'
The more intensely you perform your fitness workouts the less time you will need to spend at each session
Just two short intense sessions fitness exercises would be nearly as beneficial as try to do three or four longer fitness routines in a week

This is a great way to get into and stay with a fitness over 40 routine. Which you can carry on with the rest of your life.

I suffer from severe asthma and lower back problems. This has made it almost impossible for me to enjoy sports or any kind of strenous physical activity. But as I get older it's vital for me to stay healthy. So I've decided to go out and find easy, alternative ways ANYONE can get fit without endlessly puffing away on treadmills, lifting heavy weights or enduring hours of exercise. Now at last you can get healthy... and STAY healthy for life.... with these lazy, gentle and quick methods I've discovered. They really work! Weight Loss, Fat Loss, & Getting Fit Over 40
By Craig Ballantyne Platinum Quality Author

No matter what your age, if you are over 40, or over 50 and beyond, you can still lose weight and burn fat. With the fit over 40 weight loss approach, you can develop the mindset needed to help lose fat and get fit at any age. Just look at the incredible inspirational stories.

I recently spoke with coach and fitness professional, Jon Benson, who is living proof of the fit over 40 methods, as a mere seven years ago he was clinically obese and near death. Having lived through obesity, and having beat it, allows Jon to relate to so many others and what they are going through.

Today, Jon is an internationally recognized transformation lifecoach, specializing in mental strategies for the excellence lifestyle, fat-burning nutrition and superior physical fitness.

CB: Jon, for a lot of people at any age, the biggest problem is getting over the inertia of starting. Any tips? And do they differ for someone like yourself that had been in fitness before compared to someone getting fit for the first time?

JB:
Craig, I would start by encouraging anyone interested in changing their body, no matter what their age may be, to change their mind first.

What I mean by that is simply this: we excel at what we 'become'.

We dabble at what we 'participate in'.

Most people want to "participate" in fitness. Perhaps join a health club, get a trainer, go on a diet, and so-on. Yet everyone on the planet would answer YES to this question: "Do you want to be fit
for the rest of your life?"

Think about it: Can you be 'anything positive' for the rest of your life when you dabble at what you seek? No.

So, to get over the inertia of starting a fitness program, I encourage what I call "Core Linking".

Core Linking is covered in my book, "Fit Over 40". This is where you attach your deepest Core Values to a specific fitness and nutritional goal. Then you "Personalize" these objectives into a
what I call a "State of Becoming."

You 'become' your goal. Rather than "achieving" a goal, which for most is followed by an immediate cessation of the lifestyle patterns they used to become successful, I say 'become' your goal.

Become "a body-shaper." Label yourself as a "bodybuilder", "body-shaper", "physical culturist", "athlete", whatever! Create a label that FORCES your goal to be LARGER THAN YOU.

This engages the subconscious mind to a remarkable degree. It challenges you in ways that prevent things like "boredom" or excuses like, "I don't feel like it" from getting in your way.

All of this begins with the power of The Core.

Oh, by the way -- it doesn't matter if you're a newbie or a seasoned bodybuilder, Core Leveraging works to achieve and become whatever you desire.

CB: So Jon, how do you help people stick with the plan? We all know motivation wanes quickly as results slow down. Any tips?

JB:
Believe it or not, I really don't believe in motivation. "I believe in inspired, consistent action."

Motivation is short-term. I can motivate just about anyone with a good speech or perhaps an emotionally-charged piece of music. But is this long-term? Hardly.

The truly successful, at anything in life, are self-governed and intrinsically motivated. Actually, they are "inspired" -- and that's the ticket beyond the motivational trap.

Don't get me wrong -- we all need motivation from time to time. But I like to think of it as sugar. It's quick fuel that burns out just as quickly.

Inspired action, which comes when you develop your Core, sticks around for the long haul.

Inspired action makes a guy like Lance Armstrong take on the Tour de France after going through the worst cancer imaginable. Inspired action drives a boxer to continue a fight with a broken jaw. And,
inspired action will PULL YOU toward a goal.

The opposite is a feeling of "I have to." This is a "push". We want to be PULLED. It starts with inspired action, not motivation.

CB: And finally, what nutrition and training changes have you noticed at different stages in your life and in the experiences of the success stories in your book? Do the nutrition principles change at all? What about training and recovery?

JB:
As you age, your body tends to process carbohydrate more reluctantly.

There are exceptions of course, but for the most part people with any issues with bodyfat to begin with should curtail their intake of carbs.

This may not mean a "low-carb" diet, but they certainly work if you enjoy protein foods as I do.

Cranking up the protein, the water, and various forms of cardio can allow just about anyone at any age to get the fat off and build muscle.

I'm building plenty of muscle at 43 -- more so than I did at 33. The body fat comes off a bit slower, but not much...that is when I consume a higher protein, controlled carb, moderate fat diet with intense and brief weight training sessions.

I am currently experimenting with daily cardio sessions which vary in intensity. Some are longer at 65% MHR, others are 30 minutes at 85%. So far, so good.

Bottom line: If you eat and think properly, as I discuss in Fit Over 40 (the mind is a huge part of all of this), your body can respond like it did when you were 20.

CB: Thanks Jon, that is greatly appreciated. Any final comments for today's interview? I'm sure we'll be talking more in the future.

JB:
My system of Caloric Rotation allows for muscle building and the burning of bodyfat to happen at the same time. In order to get the body you want, you want to gain lean muscle. That gives you the
curves you seek, plus keeps your bones nice and strong.

You 'also' want to burn off excess bodyfat. Otherwise you'll never see the muscle you are building. Once you do that, you're "toned". In short, you become a fat-burning machine.

So "mentally let yourself do this". Mentally give yourself "permission". That sounds strange, but it's actually part of my System. The mind must be engaged or the body will not follow.

Become Fit Over 40 today!

CB: Thanks Jon. No matter what your age, Jon's mindset changing tips will help you burn fat and gain muscle - and more importantly, build the best body of your life.

Resolutions to Be Fit Over 40, 50 Or Any Age
By K Bray Platinum Quality Author

The Holiday season presents us with many challenges in terms of maintaining a 'normal' calorie intake and making time for a regular exercise program. Too often people feel that they have 4-6 weeks where eating becomes a free for all and skip the gym to complete errands or attend parties and events. A beautiful buffet full of wonderful food and decadent sweets and treats we may view as a challenge to see how much we can try. The thought process is, come January we will make that resolution to get on schedule with a regular fitness routine and start a crash diet eating only celery and water.

The cold hard facts are that buying a gym membership will not solve your problems. You have to actually commit to going and not give up. A strict diet will not work, we need proper nutrition to function and have energy. Yo yo dieting is useless, you need to make a commitment to eating healthy and wisely. As we age we are at risk for health problems that can be avoided with proper diet and exercise. This should not be a fad or part of undoing a problem we created with overindulging, this should be a lifestyle choice.

Everything can be enjoyed in moderation. Drink plenty of water and make time for some exercise and even add a few minutes to each of your workouts can help keep you on track during a time when temptation is all around us. This will not be any easier come January when fitness classes are packed to capacity and you have to wait to get on a treadmill at the gym. Don't set yourself so far back that you feel you can't change your path. For good health, strong heart, bones and mobility you need to make sure that good eating habits and a regular exercise routine are part of your life today and every day.

Fit Over 40 - How to Lose Fat When You Are Over 40
By Tom Founder Platinum Quality Author

Hey, are you now in your 40's? If so, I congratulate you and am glad that you have a chance to be here. Being at your middle age may not be what you dream of. But it is unavoidable. Every people have to be here at one point of their life. There is nothing to be worried about although you start to see the crow's feet on your face. In this article, we will talk about how we can lose fat and stay fit even when we are over 40 years old.

- You will need to eat less to avoid big belly. If you do not want to change your body structure, you will have to eat less. If you want to lose weight at this age, you will have to be on diet and exercise. And you have to do it heavier than when you were younger. There is no simple solution out. What do you expect? Your fat burning capability is not as good as it used to be. That means you will accumulate more fat. If you do not eat less and exercise more, you will become fatter. That may not happen to everybody. But it happens to most people. Be prepared if you do not want your look to drastically change.

- If you do not want to eat less, you will need to change your eating habits. You can eat more fibers and proteins. Eat less fat and carbohydrates. You can use a simple formula. Half of what you eat are fresh vegetables. The change of eating habit will not only take care of your weight but also help building better health for the years to come.

- Find better exercise. You may not have as good physical strength as you used to do. Admit it. You have changed. Your exercise may have to be changed. If you are a person who exercises regularly, make sure that you monitor your exercise result closely. Find a personal trainer who understands your needs if you have to. This will help speed up the process and will be safer for you.

- Have regular physical check up. You need to know if you have any health conditions for example hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, or any other illness. If you do not have any of those, congratulations! If you know how good your health is, you will be able to act properly to maintain it or even make it better.

- Add food supplements into your recipe. The big mistake that people make in this age is that they do not care to take food supplements. Start to learn more about them and select the ones that you need. Believe me. Your regular diet will not be enough for you. Having right food supplements will greatly help you in the long run.

The Secret to Losing Weight After 40
By Steven B.

As age keeps catching on, weight loss increasingly becomes a faint dream. However, this need not be your fate. If you are 40 and thinking of getting rid of those extra pounds, then now is the time. Remember, 40 is the new 20! However, trying to lose weight after 40 is easier said than done. Most people have health issues to deal with, and this could be one of the first things that could get in your way. Losing weight after 40 could be a cakewalk if you start with short workout sessions to rebuild confidence in yourself. As you go along, you can increase the intensity of your workouts gradually.

People above 40 tend to have greater fears regarding exercise. However, this approach could actually deter you than help you progress. If exercise is hard, eating right is harder when it comes to anti-ageing fitness. A lot of people keen on losing weight after 40 tend to ignore the part food plays in the build-up towards fitness. No matter how much you read about 'right food' ideas or go through nutritional advice sessions, unless you start implementing them one by one, you will never know what suits you best.

Since eating plays a major part in the journey of losing weight after 40, role model Fred Eisele who featured in Jon Benson's Fit Over 40 gives a few tips on what you can do to develop anti-ageing fitness:

· Drink no less than 64 ounces of water
· Keep a control over the portions you eat
· Do away with refined carbohydrates
· Incorporate lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet
· Avoid eating huge meals. Six to seven small meals work best when you are trying to lose weight

One of the biggest challenges of losing weight after 40 is turning fat into muscle. In Jon Benson's Fit Over 40, role model Jay Laurelson states the challenges he continually faces when it comes to burning fat and building muscle. The right way to do this is to burn the fat first and then aim to work on muscle toning. Following the same routine everyday will hardly help you lose adequate fat.

When your body gets accustomed to your exercise routine, it stops shedding enough fat. This is why you need to introduce variety when it comes to exercise. Even if you are starting with light jogging and running, make sure you include high intensity workouts in your exercise plan. You can see your anti-ageing fitness goals come alive only when you are ready to go the extra mile.

Losing weight after 40 can be a lot of fun only if you are aware of the problem areas. Jon Benson in his book Fit Over 40 points out that no approach towards fitness is wrong, and that the only right way to exercise is to find your own way. So embrace anti-ageing fitness and discover a new you!

Fit Over 40 Review - Is This Program by Jon Benson Right For You?
By John Davenport Platinum Quality Author

There's no doubt that as you age, maintaining your fitness and your lean body becomes more of a challenge. Somewhere around the age of 40, your body loses much of its natural ability to burn calories fast. This is a gradual process that begins much sooner but it tends to become noticeable when you hit 40.

The Fit Over 40 program by Jon Benson addresses this issue: how can men and women in their 40's, 50's, 60's and beyond stay fit, lean, and healthy as possible?

This is not such an easy thing to do, especially in today's modern world with so much fast food and junk food surrounding us. In addition, the amount of time we can spare to workout and to look after our selves is very low when we take into account work, children, and other obligations that you may have.

Reality is working against you in many ways when you get a bit older, but the desire to look good and the ability to look good is still there. The reason why I know this to be true is the Fit Over 40 program and Jon Benson's personal story.

Jon Benson was a former overweight man who managed to turn his life around completely after a long struggle with obesity. He actually went from having 30+% body fat to 9% body fat! In addition, he became fitter and more muscular. The way he did it was by following in the footsteps of other men and women 40 years old and more who seemed to be able to beat the destructive force of time and maintain a lean, firm, and fit body and physical fitness.

These are people that he met over time and whose life experience and advice he compiled into the Fit Over 40 program. This is a role model program in which you can learn how other men and women succeed where you want to, how they are able to lead a full and healthy life and still have the kind of body that other people are envious about.

This program is for you if you're looking for doable ways to change your life in order to remain fit in your 40's, 50's and beyond. It is not for you if you're looking for one specific, step by step system. You will actually create your own system by picking and choosing what you like from all these life stories and adopting these habits into your own life.

I believe that Fit Over 40 is a great resource for anyone who wishes to learn from success. If you're looking to be inspired, this program has what it takes.

Over 40 and Time to Get Fit
By Rich Niccolls Platinum Quality Author

I used to think that people were lying when they said that things start to go downhill when you turn 40. Were they ever right. I turn 45 this month and I have been in denial that my body just doesn't want to stay in shape and that my health is not as good as it used to be. I used to be rather fit as a soccer player, captain of my college soccer team for three years, but today you would never know. I want to share with you three things about my experience and what it is actually going to take to get back in shape.

Diet alone will not work. Do not believe all of those infomercials. Those infomercials are mainly made up of people under 40 that bounce back so quickly. They may not need as much exercise. Simply a change in diet and their normal routine can help them lose weight. I have tried at least a dozen times per year to lose weight since I turned 40. I would drop some weight, but the day I cheated on my diet I immediately gained 5 pounds back. That is no exaggeration. I am convinced that going low fat or low carbohydrate is not enough.

Exercise is your best friend. I believe that exercise can overcome any of those hiccups you may have in your diet. But, I do not believe the opposite of that is true. What you eat is important, but I believe a man over forty needs to make exercise a higher priority than what you eat. I am not saying that it can be a life of doughnuts and pizza as long as you jog three miles a day. What I am saying is that something happens when you turn 40 that require a man to need exercise. Without exercise, I do not believe a diet can be sustained.

I found that exercise is actually a greater motivator to eat better, but that dieting alone is not much of a motivator to begin exercising. Therefore, one of the mental challenges I was able to overcome was that in order to improve my eating habits I needed to make exercise my top priority. Preparing to run a 5K or 10K race makes you think twice about eating one more piece of pizza or choosing a piece of fruit over a snack cake. When I tried dieting alone, I was never able to overcome the mental challenge of getting up to exercise.

I would encourage you that if you are over 40 and struggling with your weight, you need to prioritize exercise. Find a community bulletin board and see if there is a 3K to 10K race. Find one that is about 2 - 5 weeks away and begin preparing for it. It's not so much about competing in the race as much as it is about doing and finishing the race. Soon it will be about competition, but one step at a time. It's very satisfying when the race is done and you get your goodie bag with the race t-shirt and you can hang your race number by your desk. Yes, eat right and make smart, healthy food choices, and make exercise your focus to get rid of the flabby forties.

Weight Loss Workout For Men Over 40
By Tina Haines Platinum Quality Author

The older we get, the more difficult it seems to lose the extra weight that is put on over the years. Being over the age of 40 can make weight loss seem like a daunting task but it doesn't have to be at all. The methods for shedding pounds is effective for men of any age. Yes, diet and exercise are the main components but how you perform them is what makes the difference.

Below I will explain how to workout in a more efficient manner that burns more fat in less time. One thing that I like to point out is that there is no such thing as spot reduction. People often fall for the marketing that is often on television for ab machines. The commercials make it seem as though just working out your ab muscles will help to burn stomach fat.

In order to burn fat, you must build muscle. Resistance training is the best workout for this. There are several ways you can build muscle. My favorite is by using my own body weight. Several good exercises include:

  • Calisthenics
  • Plyometrics
  • Weight lifting
  • Interval training
Calisthenics are body weight routines that can include push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, and more. Plyometrics are often used by athletes. These exercises are designed for fast and powerful movements usually to improve a specific training goal such as developing speed. Weight lifting is simply the practice of lifting weights (free-weights or machines.) Interval training is a way to perform several exercises back to back for a set and resting for a minute or so in between sets.

All of these workouts burn fat well and when you combine interval training, you can get a full-body workout done in about 45 minutes. Using free-weights is also a better option than relying on weight machines. The machines limit the movements of body parts whereas free-weight movements mimic what you do on a daily basis.

If you do enjoy cardio workouts such as running, you can still perform them on the days you are not building muscle. Keep in mind that too much cardio runs the risk of muscle loss. Spending an hour or longer doing cardio isn't necessary. Most important is to keep your workouts fun. Find new body weight routines that you can add to your workouts to keep them fresh.

The equipment needed is minimal. I recommend dumbbells (light and heavy), adjustable bench, jump rope, elastic bands, and medicine ball.

Bonus Tip: Save time by using the Fit Over 40 system created by an over 40 fitness professional. Get program details by following: http://bellyfatcure.com/articles/fit-over-40.php

Fit Over 40 - Know Your Body's Factory Settings
By Robert Reddin Platinum Quality Author

Getting fit when you are over 40 presents some challenges not faced by a younger person. As we approach middle age keeping fit and healthy is not the same as it was when we were in our twenties and thirties. For some of us, it may even be payback time for all those unhealthy lifestyle choices we made when we could burn the candle at both ends. This is the first of a series of articles, each of which shows you how to overcome one of the five main barriers to being fit over 40.

As we pass the 40 mark, we gain weight more easily and find it harder to lose than we once might have done. Even if we have being going to the gym regularly, our usual workouts become less effective and we are less able to work out as intensively. Our busy modern lifestyle makes it a challenge to eat healthily and taking regular exercise; more often than not we take insufficient exercise and grab the most convenient meal, irrespective of whether that is the healthy option.

We are not all from the same mould and we each have our own issues and requirements for our personal health. What we have in common is that we need to have a healthy diet and to take exercise.

There are five main barriers to staying fit over 40. The first of which is:

Your idea of the "perfect" body

You were born with a set of "factory settings" that are unique to you. One of which is your optimum weight. By the time we have reached forty, we have had years of conditioning about what is the perfect body to which we should aspire. We have been bombarded with one diet fad after another for so long that we have forgotten that we are fighting against what nature intended for us; we are trying to change our "factory settings". We have forgotten that if we work with our bodies, instead of against them, we will get the results we desire more quickly and be able to maintain them more easily.

Once you accept the body you were born with you can return to your normal weight as nature intended without being on a perpetual weight loss diet. The perfect body for you is the one programmed into your "factory settings". Accepting the body you were born with will set you free from the treadmill of following one diet after another in your attempts to be someone else's idea of the perfect body.

In the next article in the series, Minding your Metabolism, I show you why you are not the victim of your metabolism.

As we go into middle age, it is important to pay attention to our health as many conditions such as the pre-diabetic stage appear at this time in our lives. Having a healthy diet and active lifestyle are the keys to being fit over 40.

Exercise Over 40 - How to Use Exercise When You Are Over 40 to Regain Your Body Strength
By Jim Somchai Platinum Quality Author

If you are over 40 years old, you may want to know how to keep your body fit and healthy when you come to the age. This is the age that many people view that your body becomes weaker. Well, that is not true unless you yourself let that happen. You can have your body fit and healthy even after 40 years old age. How can you do that? You can use the right types of exercises. This article will give you the tips how you can exercise over 40 and get the best result out of it.

With this land mark of your age, you do not have to change much of your exercise style if you are currently doing it. However, most of the people do not exercise or do very little of it. Besides, a lot do not exercise correctly. The key is to make it correct. This is how you can start your exercise over 40.

Your exercise needs to consist of both aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is the exercise which allows your body to consistently move for at least twenty minutes. I think you may relate this type of exercise with aerobic dancing. You can refer to that. Also, you can do jogging, running, swimming or even boxing. This type of exercise will help your cardiovascular function. Aerobic exercise is an essential part of your exercise over 40.

The other type of exercise is anaerobic exercise. You can use another term called resistance training. This is an exercise that you apply some weight on some parts of your body and make the muscle workout. This type of training or exercise will make your muscle stronger. That means your body will be stronger and will become more muscular.

Why is it important to have more muscle when you are over 40? Because, your body will burn less fat in this age. In other words, your metabolism will be lower. Having more muscle in your body improves your metabolism rate. You will burn more fat even you just sit still.

Apart from doing the two types of exercise, you will need to know how to do them correctly. This is essential especially for those who did not do exercise earlier in their life. So, most of us will not some coach or more information on exercise over 40. With the right approach, you can have fit and healthy life when you are over 40.
