If you are over 40 years old, you may want to know how to keep your body fit and healthy when you come to the age. This is the age that many people view that your body becomes weaker. Well, that is not true unless you yourself let that happen. You can have your body fit and healthy even after 40 years old age. How can you do that? You can use the right types of exercises. With this land mark of your age, you do not have to change much of your exercise style if you are currently doing it. However, most of the people do not exercise or do very little of it. Besides, a lot do not exercise correctly. The key is to make it correct. This is how you can start your exercise over 40.

Your exercise needs to consist of both aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is the exercise which allows your body to consistently move for at least twenty minutes. I think you may relate this type of exercise with aerobic dancing. You can refer to that. Also, you can do jogging, running, swimming or even boxing. This type of exercise will help your cardiovascular function. Aerobic exercise is an essential part of your exercise over 40.

The other type of exercise is anaerobic exercise. You can use another term called resistance training. This is an exercise that you apply some weight on some parts of your body and make the muscle workout. This type of training or exercise will make your muscle stronger. That means your body will be stronger and will become more muscular.

Why is it important to have more muscle when you are over 40? Because, your body will burn less fat in this age. In other words, your metabolism will be lower. Having more muscle in your body improves your metabolism rate. You will burn more fat even you just sit still.

Apart from doing the two types of exercise, you will need to know how to do them correctly. This is essential especially for those who did not do exercise earlier in their life. So, most of us will not some coach or more information on exercise over 40. With the right approach, you can have fit and healthy life when you are over 40.
