Fit Over 40 Review
By Katie Turner Platinum Quality Author

Fit Over 40 is another excellent diet co written by the creator of Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle. Although written by the same author the content is very different to what was inside that guide as this is more of a motivational tool than an actual diet.

Rather than being based on the exercise routine and diet of a proven bodybuilder or athlete this is basically based on studying the struggles, trials and tribulations of others who are 40 and older and how they dealt with their health issues. This makes it far easier to set your goals as you are being shown how the average everyday person can succeed.

Although a section of the book does look at training and eating the main aim as I mentioned is actually to give you the right mental attitude and motivation, which this guide claims is just as important to succeed as having the right diet.

If you are looking for a fast way to lose weight this isn't for you and nor is it for you if you are looking for an exercise workout that is all planned out for you. If however you are looking for something that will give you the motivation to lose weight then this is it because if this can't do it nothing will.

Fit Over 40 is a great book which will get you to take action and keep you motivated no matter what your age, and for this alone it provides tremendous value but as noted above you aren't provided with any real routines to follow which may be what most are looking for in their diet guides.

To get the links to the diets listed above and more importantly to find out my 10th and the best diet on the list visit Top 10 Diets. For a full review of any of the diets listed above click here.

Fit Over 40 With Simple Exercise
By Chuck Smalley

Part of meeting goals and being successful is the ability to overcome obstacles. By applying this concept to our fitness goals, it is easy to see the logic of making your exercise workouts simple. Maintaining fitness over 40 is as much about assimilating fitness as a seamless part of our lifestyle, as finding the perfect exercise. Some level of moderate exercise is better than getting none at all.

If you are new to exercising, these concepts can help you get started more easily. If you already have and exercise regimen, incorporating some of the concepts here can help you fit in a workout on a busy day that would otherwise prohibit you from exercise because of schedule or other constraints. Simple exercises are good for providing healthy muscle tone and helping with flexibility and agility. These are things we need to keep in mind as fitness goals when we are over 40.

It is always good to mix up your current exercise routine with something fresh and different. I have recognized this in my own workouts. Even after working out steadily and regularly including a standard bench press in my workouts, it surprised me how much of a quality chest workout I got when I substituted a pushup exercise instead. Pushups are just going to work your muscle groups differently, which is a good thing. Your mind, your attitude, and your muscles will respond positively to the change in exercise routine.

Here are 3 simple exercises you can do, with a minimum amount of time and equipment.

Pushups

Pushups are a great place to start because they work more than just your chest. With your body extended, you are involving muscle groups along the length of your body including chest, forearms, shoulders, biceps, triceps, back, and abdominals. Keeping proper form and a steady pace are important to maximize the positive affect across the muscle groups. Focus on going all the way down slowly and keeping your abdominals in and contracted. Remember to breathe properly. Perform 4 sets.

Crunches

Nothing earth shattering here, but again I would encourage you to concentrate on proper form. Both the up and down movement should be steady and deliberate. Resist the temptation to pull on your head as you curl upward. Concentrate on squeezing and contracting the abdominal muscles at the top of the exercise movement, especially as your reach the end of each set. Perform 4 sets.

Lunges

Lunges will work your hamstrings and will get your heart pumping because of the larger muscle group and larger body weight incorporated. They will also help you with your sense of balance. Perform 4 sets.

Obviously, there are plenty of other exercise options available; these are just a few examples. The point is that you can get a well-rounded workout with just a few minutes and minimal equipment. If these exercises do not provide enough a workout, there are plenty of variations to make each exercise more challenging. Decline crunches while holding a dumbbell, for example, is a good way to take a simple exercise and make it more challenging. Good luck with your fitness goals!

How to Get Fit If You Are Over 40
By Peter Craig

Fitness for the over 40's

Are you like me getting to the age where all the latest fads and exercise routines seem to be increasingly more geared towards the younger generation ( I am not saying that they can't be done by us but the marketing certainly puts you off) all I want now is to know how to reverse the dreaded middle aged spread before it takes over my body completely.

If this sounds familiar then I may have something of interesting to share with you here.

I recently can across a program called FitOver40 by a guy call Jon Benson, attracted by the name of the program itself I decided to look at it a bit further.

Now I am a firm believer that we all have the ability to change the things about us that we don't like through the use of tools like NLP and Coaching.

Jon uses a key part of the NLP process, a area that was mastered by Tony Robbins in his own struggle to change his life around.

What is it?

Modelling, now when I say modelling I do not mean catwalk or super it is more like the art of creating a scale model of a car or boat, replicating the exact details to produce a look that is the same.

However when we model people it is their actions and behaviours that we are trying to replicate, what is it that makes then different to us, why do things work for them but not for us.

Jon had a wake up call when his Doctors told him he would die if he did not change his life; he weighed over 220lbs had 38% body fat and was a 44" waist.

It was then he decided that by identifying and then modelling successful health and fitness experts he would be able to learn much quicker what it was he needed to do to get his life back on track.

Following 12 months of modelling he had achieved massive results and had come up with what he could only call his Master Mind Model.

What were the results?

In 12 months Jon had reduced his body fat from 38% to just 9%

His waist size from 44" down to 33"

Dropped his resting heart rate from 98 to 59

Plus many other positive results.

Will this work for others?

Well the simple answer to this is Yes, Jon's students have had immense success and have credited this system with getting them back on track and allowing them to live their lives to the full once again.

The author

Jon Benson is now able to count many of the very people that he had once modelled as friends and colleagues and continues to try to help other people achieve the success he had.

Co-author of the program is well known health and fitness expert Tom Venuto author of the top selling internet eBook 'Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle' and hardback publication 'The Body Fat Solution.'

Be Fit Over Forty - Use the Top 10 Tips to Trick Yourself Into Weight Loss
By Allison Holt

To be Fit Over 40 you need to be able to stay focused and on track to succeed. That is why motivation and staying on your diet and weight loss plan can sometimes be a challenging mind game.

Over the years of trying this diet and that diet I am sure you have found that there are times when it is hard to stay on track then other times when things just seem to go fine. It is during the hard times that we need the motivation and the strength to stay on track.

Sometimes it takes everything you have to do this. There seems to be countless hours that seem to drag on when you are hungry and can only think about food. Well there is help in staying on track and fit over forty. I have found that you can trick your mind and body into losing weight. You can actually make yourself feel full and get rid of those cravings. You can forget abut food and get back to the other things that need your attention.

I want to share these with you so and have came up with the following list to help everyone stay Fit Over 40. Here they are:

The Top 10 List Of All Time Weight Loss Mind Tricks:

1. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of cold water per day. You hear this often and for good reason. Most people don't do it. They think they are drinking that much but aren't. So, count out your glasses for a few days and get used to how much water it actually is. Ensure that you drink one glass of water prior to each meal to help fill you up. Also, if it is cold that is even better, as your body will need to burn a few extra calories to heat you back up.

2. Eat something for breakfast and make sure it includes a small portion of protein. Rev up your engine for maximum metabolism burn. This kick start to the day will keep your metabolism high through-out the day. Again it is something you hear all of the time because people ignore it. And just so you know, 2 cups of coffee does not count as breakfast!

3. Carry a bag of carrots or your favorite vegetable with you all of the time to use for emergency snacks when you get hungry. Carrots are my favorite because they are crunchy, they are sweet, they are good for you and you can't really eat too many. Do I need to say anymore?

4. Do not eat after 8 pm at night. Your body's natural metabolism slows done during the late night period. Try to let it do that by not eating.

5. Do not consume useless extra calories from your beverages. Switch to diet soda, drink black coffee, limit your alcohol intake. Another thing that can get people are fruit juices. Limit them to 1or 2 servings per day at the most. Yes, they are good for you and have a lot of vitamins, but they also have a high amount of natural sugar. So, enjoy them, but don't over do it.

6. Switch some of your food to lower fat or fat free options. For example , switch your milk from 2% to skim milk. Buy light or fat free foods where ever you can. It all counts and can add up quickly. Just think if you switched to the light versions of margarine, sour cream, mayonnaise, ice cream, cheese and milk. That is a lot less fat. But don't stop there, anytime you see something you regularly buy become available in a lower fat version go for it.

7. Use spices instead of dressings that have a lot of fat. Learn new ways to cook and to use spices to take your meals from diet boring to low calorie exciting. A simple and easy way to reduce fat while cooking and flavoring things up!

8. Keep a food journal. It doesn't have to be fancy or formal. By keeping track of all your food intake and by doing it honestly you will stay on track. It is easy to forget something during our busy day, so doing this lets us know how many calories we are really consuming in a day. You might be surprised.

9. Finish all meals with a piece of sugar-less gum. This will help you from over indulging after your meal is over. Many times after we eat we feel a craving for something sweet and end up ordering a dessert we do not need. Do you know why we get this craving? Because we have conditioned ourselves over time to expect sweetness after a meal. Chewing a piece of sugar-less gum will combat thins and save you calories.

10. Switch your normal dishware for smaller plates and bowls. This will naturally help you from not stocking your plate high with extra calories. It has been proven that if you have a bigger plate or bowl that you will take more food. Trick your mind into eating less and still feeling full.

So now that you have seen the tips, try to use a few of them at a time over the next few weeks until you are using them all. You will see a difference in the amount of calories and fat you are consuming. Especially if you keep the journal and can go back and compare notes.

Being Fit At Forty can be done and you can do it. Do as much as you can, but realize that we all have good days and bad days. We make mistakes every day in every part of our lives. You will make mistakes on your journey, I know I have. I also know that is how we improve. Forgive the mistake but do not forget it and most importantly, forgive yourself. Learn from it and move on. Tomorrow is your next chance to improve your health and fitness but why wait, start today. Successful dieting and weight loss is a life choice. You will have bumps along the way.

Getting Fit Over 40 Can Save Your Life
By Mandy Hill Platinum Quality Author

Staying or getting fit over 40 can seem like an impossible task for most people. After all, isn't having the body of your dreams limited to youth? Super models, body builders and just plain in-shape bodies are a part of so many dreams. And we don't stop dreaming just because we turn forty or any other age.

So what's a forty, fifty or sixty-something adult to do? One of the true fountains of youth available to us all is muscle building. Now, I'm not talking about huge, bulky muscles that get you ready for a competition. But regular strength training at any age can make a world of difference in how you look and feel. And, the health benefits are amazing.

Reasons To Build Muscle When You're Over Forty

Yes, it's true that building strong muscles can give a person a certain amount of sex appeal. If you're single and in your forties you may feel like your biological clock is ticking and you should find yourself a husband or wife. Or, maybe you just got a divorce and want to re-enter the dating game. Perhaps you just want to look good - there's nothing wrong with that. Whatever the reason, getting some tone and definition are a good start.

Beyond looking great, gaining muscle during the "experienced" years can help in other ways, too. For instance, do you find yourself constantly exhausted? People these days are constantly on the go and often overwhelmed. If you feel like you're being run into the ground, finding time every week to work out can really help. Strength training can provide you with an incredible energy boost. You'll find yourself feeling stronger and more refreshed in no time. You'll be better able to handle whatever life throws at you, both mentally and physically.

It doesn't stop there, though. Let's face it, there are many health problems that start to plague us as we age. The older we get, the more we increase our risk of getting sick. Even the common cold and flu seem to be attracted to us like magnets. By exercising and building muscle, you can actually give your immune system the power it needs to fight off common ailments. While everyone else in your office is sniffling and sneezing, you're likely to be sharp, focused and feeling fine.

Another important benefit of muscle building is its effect on bone density. Women in particular are at risk for developing osteoporosis as they age. Imagine having the ability to prevent your bone density from decreasing over time. By building muscle and staying fit, you can actually increase your bone density. Joint pain and risk of fractures can be minimized or even eliminated just by taking the proper steps to keep yourself in shape.

A sound fitness plan that includes strength training along with good nutritional habits can play a major role in protecting you from a number of serious health issues. You can fend off diabetes, stroke, heart attack, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and more by incorporating healthy lifestyle habits into your daily routine.

Getting and staying fit over 40 is completely within your reach by following a few simple guidelines. By building some muscle and eating right you'll firm up, shed excess fat, reduce stress and feel better than you have in years.

10 Tips For Getting Fit Over 40
By Jim Plummer

Exercise science has proven that anyone can become fit and healthy at any age and that it's never too late to start. Here are 10 tips that will help you get fit over 40.

1. Check with your doctor. If you have any existing health conditions or you've been inactive for a long time, you need to get medical clearance before you start to exercise.

2. Evaluate your current fitness level. In order to develop an effective over 40 fitness program, you need to know what your current fitness level is. Cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition are all factors that need to be evaluated. Having a personal trainer evaluate your current fitness level is a good idea, even if you don't plan on working with a personal trainer on an ongoing basis.

3. Define your goals. What goals do you want to achieve? Do you want to lose 20 pounds of fat? Do you want to run a 10K race? Goal setting has to be a part of any over 40 fitness program.

4. Be consistent. Once you start an over 40 fitness program you have to follow it on a consistent basis if you want to derive any permanent benefits from it.

5. Warm up before exercising. A warm up should be a part of everyone's exercise program regardless of their age, but it's especially important for older exercisers who might be more susceptible to injuries. Warming up will stimulate blood flow to your muscles, increase your joint flexibility and range of motion, and get you mentally prepared for your workout. Do several minutes of easy aerobic exercise prior to more intense aerobic exercise. Do one or two light sets of each weight lifting exercise before using heavier weights.

6. Stretch after exercising. Stretching and warming up are not the same. Warming up should be done before exercise, stretching should be done after exercise. Stretching is especially important for older exercisers who may have lost some flexibility over the years.

7. Emphasize form and technique when lifting weights. You want to challenge yourself when lifting weights, but not at the expense of good form and technique. The over 40 exerciser needs to be especially careful to use good form and technique in order to avoid injury. Use muscle power, not momentum, when lifting weights. Don't heave, swing, or bounce the weights. Lift and lower the weights in a steady and controlled manner. Concentrate on feeling the muscle you're working (this is called the mind-muscle connection).

8. Give yourself enough recovery time after exercising. As you age, you need more recovery time after exercising, especially after weight lifting. Give your body the time it needs to rest and recover and it will get stronger and healthier.

9. Start slowly and build up gradually. Don't push yourself too hard too fast. Slowly and gradually progress from your existing fitness level.

10. Enjoy yourself. A fitness program has to be enjoyable if it's going to become a regular part of your life. When you first start a fitness program, especially when you're older, you may think it's a chore. But the more you keep at it, the more enjoyable it will become. You might just find that your fitness program becomes a positive addiction.

Fitness For Over 40 - What Are the Challenges?
By John Davenport Platinum Quality Author

Achieving and maintaining a high fitness level is never an easy thing. However, as you mature, it tends to get even harder. Indeed, it requires a different approach and more focused diet and exercise steps to be at the top of your game.

For many, 40 years is some sort of boundary after which it suddenly becomes much harder to remain lean and firm. But what makes fitness over 40 such a challenge?

There are a number of reasons. The first has to do simply with age. The more you mature the less efficient your body is by nature. Your body burns less calories and builds muscles at a slower pace, so it naturally requires more work to get the kind of results you're looking for.

Furthermore, people over 40, usually have much less time than people in their 20's. They usually have more work and family related obligations which makes time an scarce commodity for them. They simply have less time to workout in.

But I think that a big part of the problem has to do with self belief. A lot of people believe that it's just impossible to be fit over 40. Either they've been unfit for too long or they haven't worked out in years and don't believe they can turn back the clock. In a word, it's a matter of motivation. That's the bottom line.

That's why I believe that the Fit Over 40 program is a highly valuable resource for anyone trying to achieve fitness over 40. This program is packed with interviews with people in their 40's, 50's and even 60's who are in amazing shape and have been for years. Some of them went from being couch potatoes to be in incredible shape. And they share all their tips, tricks, and habits in this program.

This makes Fit Over 40 a great motivation tool for anyone who wishes to look younger, feel more energy, and have the kind of youthful body many over 40 people can only dream of.

I've included 2 resources here which will help you on your way. Make sure to visit both pages. To read about how to get fit after you turn 40, visit this webpage:

Fitness Over 40 - Avoid Failing at Fitness Plans, Fight Flabby Fat
By Perry Permann Platinum Quality Author

For many men and women over 40 fitness seems to be out of reach. They try different fitness plans only to be disappointed by failure. As you know, any plan needs to include diet and exercise. But, if it would be that easy, all of us over 40 would be lean and slim. The reality is different: Men and women over 40 build up more and more ugly body fat, threatening their health severely.

If you want to be fit over 40 you need a fitness plan that adjusts to your lifestyle. Over 40 typically your responsibilities increase- you just don't have that much time as a young student in his twenties. In addition, the lifestyles of men and women over 40 vary greatly. So you'll need a plan that adjusts to your special situation.

Equally important is commitment and motivation. You need a plan that keeps you on track, a plan where you learn to enjoy healthy eating and pleasurable physical activity. Especially for women over 40 going to a gym is often out of question. So you'll need an exercise routine that can be done at home easily.

What helps many of my clients over 40 is portion control. Over the last 50 years the serving sizes have increased remarkably- but our lifestyle got more and more sedentary. You see the results on every corner. And maybe in your mirror too. Am I right?

"Portion control" sounds more restricting at it is. All you have to do is to:

  • Get smaller plates and bowls
  • Get smaller silverware
  • Eat approximately three quarter of your usual portion
  • Wait 30 minutes before you take a second helping

The last step is crucial. Your natural emotional processes building up the "I feel satisfied" feeling takes time- eating fast food quickly is an attack on your healthy emotional state changes. In addition, have 5-6 small meals a day, so you won't feel hungry.

A food diary will help you greatly to assess how much you are really eating. Most of the nibbling between meals goes unnoticed, but the calories add up.

For your exercise program start small and stick to simple exercises you can do easily. The last Hollywood workout routines might be nice and fancy, but the most important thing is: You need to be able to actually follow through on your fitness plan and get your body moving. If you don't find the time to do 4-5 times a week for a 45 minute session, do 15 minutes twice a day on 6 days. Or squeeze in 10 minutes 3 times every day.

You need to make regular exercise a habit just like brushing your teeth. You parents might have trained you to brush your teeth, but you need to train yourself to exercise.

Weight Loss, Fat Loss, & Getting Fit Over 40
By Craig Ballantyne Platinum Quality Author

No matter what your age, if you are over 40, or over 50 and beyond, you can still lose weight and burn fat. With the fit over 40 weight loss approach, you can develop the mindset needed to help lose fat and get fit at any age. Just look at the incredible inspirational stories.

I recently spoke with coach and fitness professional, Jon Benson, who is living proof of the fit over 40 methods, as a mere seven years ago he was clinically obese and near death. Having lived through obesity, and having beat it, allows Jon to relate to so many others and what they are going through.

Today, Jon is an internationally recognized transformation lifecoach, specializing in mental strategies for the excellence lifestyle, fat-burning nutrition and superior physical fitness.

CB: Jon, for a lot of people at any age, the biggest problem is getting over the inertia of starting. Any tips? And do they differ for someone like yourself that had been in fitness before compared to someone getting fit for the first time?

JB:
Craig, I would start by encouraging anyone interested in changing their body, no matter what their age may be, to change their mind first.

What I mean by that is simply this: we excel at what we 'become'.

We dabble at what we 'participate in'.

Most people want to "participate" in fitness. Perhaps join a health club, get a trainer, go on a diet, and so-on. Yet everyone on the planet would answer YES to this question: "Do you want to be fit
for the rest of your life?"

Think about it: Can you be 'anything positive' for the rest of your life when you dabble at what you seek? No.

So, to get over the inertia of starting a fitness program, I encourage what I call "Core Linking".

Core Linking is covered in my book, "Fit Over 40". This is where you attach your deepest Core Values to a specific fitness and nutritional goal. Then you "Personalize" these objectives into a
what I call a "State of Becoming."

You 'become' your goal. Rather than "achieving" a goal, which for most is followed by an immediate cessation of the lifestyle patterns they used to become successful, I say 'become' your goal.

Become "a body-shaper." Label yourself as a "bodybuilder", "body-shaper", "physical culturist", "athlete", whatever! Create a label that FORCES your goal to be LARGER THAN YOU.

This engages the subconscious mind to a remarkable degree. It challenges you in ways that prevent things like "boredom" or excuses like, "I don't feel like it" from getting in your way.

All of this begins with the power of The Core.

Oh, by the way -- it doesn't matter if you're a newbie or a seasoned bodybuilder, Core Leveraging works to achieve and become whatever you desire.

CB: So Jon, how do you help people stick with the plan? We all know motivation wanes quickly as results slow down. Any tips?

JB:
Believe it or not, I really don't believe in motivation. "I believe in inspired, consistent action."

Motivation is short-term. I can motivate just about anyone with a good speech or perhaps an emotionally-charged piece of music. But is this long-term? Hardly.

The truly successful, at anything in life, are self-governed and intrinsically motivated. Actually, they are "inspired" -- and that's the ticket beyond the motivational trap.

Don't get me wrong -- we all need motivation from time to time. But I like to think of it as sugar. It's quick fuel that burns out just as quickly.

Inspired action, which comes when you develop your Core, sticks around for the long haul.

Inspired action makes a guy like Lance Armstrong take on the Tour de France after going through the worst cancer imaginable. Inspired action drives a boxer to continue a fight with a broken jaw. And,
inspired action will PULL YOU toward a goal.

The opposite is a feeling of "I have to." This is a "push". We want to be PULLED. It starts with inspired action, not motivation.

CB: And finally, what nutrition and training changes have you noticed at different stages in your life and in the experiences of the success stories in your book? Do the nutrition principles change at all? What about training and recovery?

JB:
As you age, your body tends to process carbohydrate more reluctantly.

There are exceptions of course, but for the most part people with any issues with bodyfat to begin with should curtail their intake of carbs.

This may not mean a "low-carb" diet, but they certainly work if you enjoy protein foods as I do.

Cranking up the protein, the water, and various forms of cardio can allow just about anyone at any age to get the fat off and build muscle.

I'm building plenty of muscle at 43 -- more so than I did at 33. The body fat comes off a bit slower, but not much...that is when I consume a higher protein, controlled carb, moderate fat diet with intense and brief weight training sessions.

I am currently experimenting with daily cardio sessions which vary in intensity. Some are longer at 65% MHR, others are 30 minutes at 85%. So far, so good.

Bottom line: If you eat and think properly, as I discuss in Fit Over 40 (the mind is a huge part of all of this), your body can respond like it did when you were 20.

CB: Thanks Jon, that is greatly appreciated. Any final comments for today's interview? I'm sure we'll be talking more in the future.

JB:
My system of Caloric Rotation allows for muscle building and the burning of bodyfat to happen at the same time. In order to get the body you want, you want to gain lean muscle. That gives you the
curves you seek, plus keeps your bones nice and strong.

You 'also' want to burn off excess bodyfat. Otherwise you'll never see the muscle you are building. Once you do that, you're "toned". In short, you become a fat-burning machine.

So "mentally let yourself do this". Mentally give yourself "permission". That sounds strange, but it's actually part of my System. The mind must be engaged or the body will not follow.

Become Fit Over 40 today!

CB: Thanks Jon. No matter what your age, Jon's mindset changing tips will help you burn fat and gain muscle - and more importantly, build the best body of your life.

Exercise Over 40 - How to Use Exercise When You Are Over 40 to Regain Your Body Strength
By Jim Somchai Platinum Quality Author

If you are over 40 years old, you may want to know how to keep your body fit and healthy when you come to the age. This is the age that many people view that your body becomes weaker. Well, that is not true unless you yourself let that happen. You can have your body fit and healthy even after 40 years old age. How can you do that? You can use the right types of exercises. This article will give you the tips how you can exercise over 40 and get the best result out of it.

With this land mark of your age, you do not have to change much of your exercise style if you are currently doing it. However, most of the people do not exercise or do very little of it. Besides, a lot do not exercise correctly. The key is to make it correct. This is how you can start your exercise over 40.

Your exercise needs to consist of both aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is the exercise which allows your body to consistently move for at least twenty minutes. I think you may relate this type of exercise with aerobic dancing. You can refer to that. Also, you can do jogging, running, swimming or even boxing. This type of exercise will help your cardiovascular function. Aerobic exercise is an essential part of your exercise over 40.

The other type of exercise is anaerobic exercise. You can use another term called resistance training. This is an exercise that you apply some weight on some parts of your body and make the muscle workout. This type of training or exercise will make your muscle stronger. That means your body will be stronger and will become more muscular.

Why is it important to have more muscle when you are over 40? Because, your body will burn less fat in this age. In other words, your metabolism will be lower. Having more muscle in your body improves your metabolism rate. You will burn more fat even you just sit still.

Apart from doing the two types of exercise, you will need to know how to do them correctly. This is essential especially for those who did not do exercise earlier in their life. So, most of us will not some coach or more information on exercise over 40. With the right approach, you can have fit and healthy life when you are over 40.

Fit Over 40 - Know Your Body's Factory Settings
By Robert Reddin Platinum Quality Author

Getting fit when you are over 40 presents some challenges not faced by a younger person. As we approach middle age keeping fit and healthy is not the same as it was when we were in our twenties and thirties. For some of us, it may even be payback time for all those unhealthy lifestyle choices we made when we could burn the candle at both ends. This is the first of a series of articles, each of which shows you how to overcome one of the five main barriers to being fit over 40.

As we pass the 40 mark, we gain weight more easily and find it harder to lose than we once might have done. Even if we have being going to the gym regularly, our usual workouts become less effective and we are less able to work out as intensively. Our busy modern lifestyle makes it a challenge to eat healthily and taking regular exercise; more often than not we take insufficient exercise and grab the most convenient meal, irrespective of whether that is the healthy option.

We are not all from the same mould and we each have our own issues and requirements for our personal health. What we have in common is that we need to have a healthy diet and to take exercise.

There are five main barriers to staying fit over 40. The first of which is:

Your idea of the "perfect" body

You were born with a set of "factory settings" that are unique to you. One of which is your optimum weight. By the time we have reached forty, we have had years of conditioning about what is the perfect body to which we should aspire. We have been bombarded with one diet fad after another for so long that we have forgotten that we are fighting against what nature intended for us; we are trying to change our "factory settings". We have forgotten that if we work with our bodies, instead of against them, we will get the results we desire more quickly and be able to maintain them more easily.

Once you accept the body you were born with you can return to your normal weight as nature intended without being on a perpetual weight loss diet. The perfect body for you is the one programmed into your "factory settings". Accepting the body you were born with will set you free from the treadmill of following one diet after another in your attempts to be someone else's idea of the perfect body.

In the next article in the series, Minding your Metabolism, I show you why you are not the victim of your metabolism.

As we go into middle age, it is important to pay attention to our health as many conditions such as the pre-diabetic stage appear at this time in our lives. Having a healthy diet and active lifestyle are the keys to being fit over 40.

Fit Over 40 - Minding Your Metabolism
By Robert Reddin Platinum Quality Author

Getting fit when you are over 40 can present some dietary challenges particularly if we are to stave off the health conditions that start to appear in middle age. Some of these conditions are the result of lifestyle choices we made many years before. This is the second of a series of articles, each of which shows you how to overcome one of the five main barriers to being fit over 40.

There are five main barriers to staying fit over 40. The second of which is:

Minding your metabolism

When we were younger it seemed like we could eat anything we chose and not put an ounce of weight on. It wasn't true, but as we probably had a more active lifestyle back then we were most likely burning up those additional calories. Now we are that bit older and a bit less active, it is all to easy to pile on the pounds.

Our metabolism converts the fuel in the food we eat into the energy needed to power everything we do, from moving to thinking to growing. We create our own metabolism by the choices of food we eat and our dietary habits. Consume more energy than you use and your body stores the surplus as fat. Being overweight increases the risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes, so it is particularly important that we control our weight. We have to eat smarter, not eat less, if we want to do that.

When we restrict our calorie intake to below the minimum amount your body requires, it goes into starvation mode. When this occurs, your body starts to burn muscle tissue to get the extra fuel it needs. Your metabolism is also slowed down.

Healthy eating requires you to have a healthy balanced diet that provides enough energy to support your body. Eating six small healthy meals a day instead of two or three large meals makes it easier for your body to process the food into energy. That guarantees a faster metabolism, which turns your body into a fat burning machine. We are what we eat and that creates our metabolism. Our metabolism does not create us.

In the next article in this series Diets don't work I explain why weight loss diets don't work and reveal the secret weapon you can use to get back to normal weight.

Fit Over 40
By Reuben Wallis

Some of us must have been puzzled as to why certain middle aged couple look quite fit while the only thing that seems to sprout on our faces these days are new wrinkles? Well, it may be that the secret behind the middle-aged health is finally out. The 'Fit Over 40' by Jon Benson and Tom Venuto, provides us with a insiders look into the apparent healthy lifestyle of a few middle aged folk. This e-book provides us with tantalizing clues as to why certain people tend to age less while the rest of us are apparently on a tread mill aging as fast as the wheel turns.

As Jon Benson and Tom Venuto point out in their book, the key is in having the right mindset. Aging is not avoidable altogether but with a healthy lifestyle, we can at least slowdown the process of aging. The 'Fit over 40' provides us with ways on how to speed up the metabolism so that we can burn off that excess fat. As this e-book points out, it is important to eat right and stuffing our faces with burgers is not going to do the trick. Our nutrition holds the key to maintaining our body and eating right should help us to do exactly that. It is not hard to imagine what a diet of greasy meats will do to our bodies. The 'Fit over 40' e-book is not for just the middle aged folk out there but for everyone who are interested in maintaining a healthy body. With the right mindset, right core values and the right diet, we should look fit in no time at all.

The 'Fit over 40' e-book does a lot more than provide us with nutrition plans to follow or listing out the five essentials of a healthy lifestyle. For one, it shows us the way to differentiate between the good carbohydrates and the bad ones. It also shows us the way to increase our metabolism overnight so that we can burn all those carbohydrates away. So eating mashed potatoes should not be a problem as long as we are able to get rid of it.

The 'fit over 40' contains quite a few concepts on how we can slow down the aging process. In this way, we can at least prevent any new wrinkles from further crinkling up our faces. Since time immemorial man had searched for a cure to prevent aging and it seems that between Jon Benson and Tom Venuto, they have discovered exactly that. It is no longer unusual to hear of a man or a woman living well beyond 100 years and perhaps, with this book, we may well end up as one of them.

As always, Reuben wallis seems to have hit the nail on the head while reviewing 'Fit over 40'. His review covers all the aspects of this product and you can read more by clicking here at Fit over 40 reviews.

A Quick Look at the Fit Over 40 Program
By Allison Thompson Platinum Quality Author

In this article we will provide a review of the Fit Over 40 eBook that can be found on the internet today. The Fit Over 40 review looks at this very interesting book which has been written by Jon Benson and Tom Venuto. But just what is so interesting in particular about this book.

Well for starters it does not tell the reader to do this, do that, eat this or do not eat that. But instead it provides a person with motivation and shows them much better ways of achieving their goals and this is all done through example in the book.

What is particularly good about this book is that during part one it describes all the struggles that Jon Benson went through in order to succeed and transform his body and health to the person you will see today. So the benefit you gain from this book is actually looking at the co-writer who will have gone through the same trials and tribulations that you are facing when you commence looking for a way to make both your body and you much healthier.

Also this eBook is particularly good as it draws on the trials and tribulations of others not just aged 40 but goes up to and includes information on people who are well into their Seventies. It provides you with an insight as to how these 52 people dealt with health issues once they had gone passed the age of 40 and to which many people will find easy to relate to. The reader of this eBook will be looking to attain the same levels of fitness as those that are shown within it rather than trying to reach the unobtainable goals of many pro-athletes in order for them to get in great shape.

Also this eBook provides the reader with the stages of helping to slow the anti aging process that occurs to all of us as we grow older. In this part Tom Venuto specifically looks at weight and strength training, aerobic training, learning to be flexible, lifelong nutrition and recovery and renewal. But he also explains why a big part in order for anyone to get fit and maintaining this fitness and so improving their lifelong health is all to do with a person's mental attitude.

At this point we must reiterate that if you are looking for a guide that will show you what exercises to do and provide you with a tailored workout plan then this is not the book for you. If however you are looking for a great read and reference book to help improve your health and fitness and to motivate you to get fit then this book is well worth considering. If this doesn't motivate you nothing will.

Whether you are over 40 or even in your 20's and need motivation and role models to get you to take action then I would consider looking at Fit Over 40. Hopefully the Fit Over 40 review provided above will provide you with a way for you to achieve your goals. Plus at only $39.00 and with a 60 day money back Guarantee this is a great value for money product.

Fit Over 40 Reviews
By John Davenport Platinum Quality Author

Fit Over 40 is an ebook which was created by Jon Benson with the help of Tom Venuto (the famous trainer). The ebook is intended for men and women over 40 who want to get lean, look youthful, feel energetic, and improve their health.

The main part of the book is a role modeling part. In it, Jon Benson brings to you the stories of remarkable people over 40 who maintain a physique and fitness level which would make them a source of envy for 20 year olds'. What this does is allow you to tap into the successes of other people like you, take what works for them, and apply it in your own life. Role modeling is a powerful method to achieve fast results in any field. It reduces the learning curve so that you can quickly and easily start doing the right and effective things.

However, you also learn how Jon Benson himself transformed his life by bringing all that he learned from these people he interviewed together and formulated a plan which helped him lose over 65 pounds, increase muscle mass by over 10 pounds, and basically reinvent himself, and save his health and well being. This is something which you can start using today and see results in a short time.

Fit Over 40 can help you begin the process of rejuvenation. It not only deals with diet and fitness but with a whole range of health issues which we usually start noticing as we progress in years. Anything from high blood pressure, the effects of aging, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, lack of muscle mass, and so on, is worked on in this ebook.

Reviews of Fit Over 40 are highly positive from professional and regular users alike. I believe it's a valuable resource for any young at heart individual who wishes to be as fit, sexy, energetic, and youthful as possible.

Fit Over 40 - Not Just Another Diet Book
By Iain McLean

One of the most popular fitness e-books on the internet today is the 'Fit Over 40' eBook. Written by self confessed former-fatty Jon Benson, the book starts out by empathising with the reader, for Jon admits that he struggled badly to transform his body and mind to become the fit and healthy person he is today. I found this to be very motivational as I knew that Jon faced the same trials and tribulations that I faced, and he overcame them!

Motivation is one of the key factors in successful weight loss, and Fit Over 40 delivers it in spades. It does this by cataloguing the experiences of a whole range of people over the age of 40, a total of 52 people in fact, and giving the reader an insight into what problems each of them faced, and the techniques they used to overcome them. If you are worried that you wont be able to emulate some of their successes, keep in mind that some of them are well into their 70's so age is no excuse!

Fit Over 40 teaches you how to set your goals appropriately if you are to achieve the same levels of fitness as people in the book. It teaches you that you don't need to set unrealistic and unachievable goals of many pro-athletes in order for them to get in great shape.

Uniquely, Fit Over 40 goes further than just telling you how to lose weight. It acknowledges the fact that its target readership is also starting to slow down as they age. Therefore, it, very successfully in my opinion, offers good advice on how to address the aging process that occurs to all of us as we grow older. Co-author Tom Venuto takes over at this point and concentrates on weight and strength training, aerobic training, nutrition for a healthy lifestyle and recovery and renewal. He also takes time to explain the importance of a positive mental attitude and how to achieve one.

Fit Over 40 isn't just another diet guide, or set of exercises - its a whole lifestyle plan for the over 40's. But, whether you are over 40, or even half that age, the advice and motivation passed on through this book will change your life for better.

If you would like to turn your life around and feel like a new person then head on over to this website and pick up a copy of this invaluable guide. At only $39.00 it could be the most valuable thing you buy this year.

Fit Over 40
By Neil A Thomas

Whenever I am asked how old I am one of the answers I will sometimes give is that there has been a lot of water gone under this bridge. I don't really know where this comes from, maybe my father had something to do with it.

Nowadays we seem to be more obsessed about age than we ever have been, people tend to want to stay young, rather than grow old gracefully, I suppose that is why plastic surgery is now just routine.

When we were young people over 40 were old codgers, when you get to 40 younger people just don't know where its at. Maybe we should all just be thankful that we are still around to enjoy life to the full.

For the thought that when you get to 40 you are over the hill, the reply should be life begins at 40, the one thing you do attain as you get older is experience in many things and a better understanding of life.

I have been fortunate in my life to have spent a lot of time on the road, this has led to meeting many people, of many different cultures and countries and overall there was a general understanding that older people should be respected, when the respect is not present, that is when you have problems.

A very funny writer in the UK was once asked what was his definition of old age, to which he replied Old age is when you think it is perfectly normal to spend most of the evening in the toilet! I think when you get to that stage you have got some serious thinking to do.

I have spent a large part of my life involved in sport and one of the questions you ask yourself when you stop is what do I do now. The answer is obvious, you don't have to stop, just maybe change to a less physical or demanding type. Fitness is not just in the body, a large part of being fit is also in the mind and also what you eat and your lifestyle.

Nowadays a lot of fitness regimes tend to revolve around the younger generation, this is not a bad thing as a big problem worldwide seems to be childhood obesity, I also think young people spend more time indoors so getting them out is good.

There is a good site for fitness and health relating to those over 40 and it can be found here:
